Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy for Individuals and Families
Our focus is to help adolescents and their families heal, feel empowered, and become aware of their inner strengths. We achieve this by providing a safe space, by listening to concerns, and through customizing a therapy treatment plan for each individual.
How often we meet and the duration of treatment will be determined during the first meeting. We will start with a 1.5 hour intake session to allow us to get to know one another, fill out the necessary paperwork and discuss treatment goals.
Our mission is to strengthen families, as well as individuals. We encourage family therapy sessions, especially with adolescent clients, to empower clients to practice the therapeutic knowledge they gain outside of therapy.
Teens who have parents and family members that are actively working alongside them are much more likely to succeed in their own therapy journey.
We also offer group therapy sessions comprised of individuals who have similar treatment goals or those who would like to work on peer relationships specifically. We offer teen groups and parents of teens groups.
Group therapy can be a good option in addition to individual therapy, or as a stand alone service. We are currently offering two groups, one for teens and one for their guardians this summer.
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is a brief approach that has been proven to address a variety of mental health needs including: behavioral issues, attention deficit disorder, depression, anxiety, relationship problems and communication needs.
EAP is an experiential therapy that uses interactive activities with horses, in place of traditional talk therapy through the Eagala model.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through therapy treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and the joy that you once had in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Attachment ruptures, being bullied, difficulty in life transitions, etc. are all often associated with what is called complex trauma. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. Our therapist can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
